The Padres fans were targeting Shohei Ohtani throughout the entire game; after he hit a home run, he proactively went over to give them a high-five.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani had no hits in the first two games of the series against the San Diego Padres. In today's rematch, Padres fans continuously threw trash talk at Ohtani, but he didn’t lose his composure. After hitting a home run late in the game, he even ran over to high-five the opposing fans, showing his generosity and sense of humor.

During the Dodgers’ three-game road series against the Padres, Ohtani went hitless in his first 10 at-bats. However, in the top of the ninth inning, he broke the drought with a solo home run off fellow Japanese left-hander Yuki Matsui. Interestingly, after returning to home plate, Ohtani first went to high-five a fan sitting near the dugout area.

Manager Dave Roberts revealed that the Padres fan sitting next to the Dodgers’ dugout was shouting at Ohtani nonstop throughout the game. “Those fans were really loud; they were yelling right next to my right ear the entire game, which was quite annoying.”

However, Ohtani didn’t get upset; instead, he let his performance silence the opposing fans and generously went over to high-five them. Roberts said, “I was actually surprised by Ohtani’s gesture; it’s not something he usually does. That fan had been booing him all game, but in the end, Ohtani took the initiative to high-five him. That moment was really special and showed Ohtani’s great sense of humor.”

As for the whole game, the Dodgers delivered both on pitching and hitting. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six. Offensively, in the top of the seventh, Dalton Rushing hit a three-run homer and Freddie Freeman added a two-run shot to seal the game, leading to an 8-2 victory that prevented a series sweep.
