Kodai Senga has struggled since returning from a serious injury, with his ERA soaring. American media suggests the Mets should trade him as soon as possible.

Kodai Senga, the Japanese ace pitcher for the MLB's New York Mets, has been inconsistent and underperforming since his comeback from injury. The American outlet SNY bluntly stated that the Mets should consider trading him promptly.

Senga began this season impressively, achieving 7 wins and 3 losses with a 1.30 ERA before his injury. However, on June 13 against the Washington Nationals, he injured his right hamstring while jumping to catch a high throw from first baseman Pete Alonso and stepping on the base, causing him to miss nearly a month.

After returning to the field, Senga started 9 games but failed to earn a win, posting a high ERA of 5.90. The Mets are currently fighting hard for a wild card spot, and his poor form led the team to demote him to Triple-A for adjustments, which has sparked considerable criticism.

SNY's analysis suggests that Senga showed ace-level potential during his rookie MLB season and before his injury this year. Crucially, he has about $30 million left on his contract over the next two years, making his salary relatively affordable and his trade value significant. If the Mets want to strengthen their pitching staff, considering their main roster depth and farm system, using Senga as a trade asset is a reasonable option.
