Failed to advance to the quarter-finals in the Classic, "Long Mao" Zeng Haoju confirmed he will leave as the head coach of the Chinese Taipei team.

Chinese Taipei was eliminated in Group C of the 2026 WBC World Baseball Classic, and head coach Zeng Haoju also posted after the match, writing: "Let's graduate together~", hinting that he will resign as the head coach of the Chinese Taipei team, similar to relief left-handed pitcher Chen Guan-Yu who has already announced his withdrawal from the national team.

Zeng Haoju mentioned in his post that he is very grateful for the experience of coaching the Chinese Taipei team three times (World Baseball 12 Strong Tournament, Classic Qualifiers, Classic), which broadened his horizons and provided valuable growth. He especially thanked CPBL President Cai Qichang for his trust, giving him the opportunity to take on the role of head coach of the Chinese Taipei team. Zeng Haoju emotionally stated that this story was created by every coach, player, and the strong support team, "together crafting each story and history, all of which are precious memories."

Additionally, Zeng Haoju also expressed deep gratitude to the "strongest support in Taiwan" who stood by him throughout. He emphasized that baseball brings Taiwanese people closer together, thanked the fans for their passion and support giving strength to the players, and encouraged everyone to actively support their favorite professional baseball teams in the upcoming new season, continuing this baseball enthusiasm.

Zeng Haoju mentioned that before this tournament, he was mentally prepared, "did not complete the task", and humbly said, "Taiwan still has many good coaches, there are always ups and downs, when the time comes, it's time to step down."

Chinese Taipei lost to Australia in the first match, then suffered a heavy defeat against Japan, but won against Czech Republic in a fierce battle, and also won the crucial match against South Korea, although ultimately they could not advance to the quarter-finals in Miami after comparing run differential.

Zeng Haoju stated: "There were many touching aspects this time, we had a good team, everyone adapted quickly, forming the best team, there were positive elements each time, hoping to see future coaches and players overcome this hurdle."
