Criticized for pitching only one game for the USA, Skubal responds: This is unfair!

Detroit Tigers' two-time Cy Young Award left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal, after completing his task for the USA in the Classic preliminary game against Britain, returned to his team to prepare for the new season. However, this "one-game only" behavior sparked controversy, and he himself was quite displeased, stating bluntly, "This is really unfair!"

Skubal recently started against the British team in the Classic, pitching three innings with five strikeouts and no walks, allowing only one run. After finishing his Classic assignment, he returned to the Tigers' spring training base and is expected to start in Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Due to leaving the team after pitching only one game, Skubal faced widespread criticism. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch defended his player, saying: "He shouldn't receive any criticism, because I think his ability to participate from the start itself is a remarkable thing."

Facing external criticism, Skubal responded in an interview with The Athletic: "This is unfair, but it's part of this job and part of the game. However, when they fully understand me or know how my teammates view this matter, I feel such comments are truly unfair to me."

Skubal emphasized that he did not change his decision due to external voices, and those around him also supported his choice. At this stage, he can only focus on what he can control.
