Shohei Ohtani will make his first pitching appearance in spring training tomorrow, with two exhibition games scheduled before the new season begins.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced today that Shohei Ohtani will pitch in tomorrow's game against the San Francisco Giants, marking his first appearance as a pitcher in this year's spring training games. He will have two opportunities to pitch before the season starts to prepare for the new campaign.

Since he did not pitch in the World Baseball Classic, Ohtani has only been participating in live pitching practice sessions and has not yet appeared in an official game. Roberts stated that after his bullpen session today, he will make his debut in a spring training exhibition game tomorrow. He will also pitch once during the Highway Series exhibition games against the Los Angeles Angels from the 23rd to the 25th, though the specific game and the number of innings for both appearances are still undetermined.

This means Ohtani is unlikely to pitch in the opening series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Roberts also mentioned yesterday that Ohtani's early-season starts might only last three to four innings.

Roberts further revealed that he hasn't discussed Ohtani's spring training preparation progress during the Classic period with him, only knowing his preferred timing for pitching appearances. When asked if pitching just two spring training games before the season starts is too rushed, Roberts responded, "We will give him as many opportunities as possible in the remaining games. He fulfilled his duties with the Japanese national team and is fully prepared for the season."
