Former Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer pitches a no-hitter in an independent league game.

Trevor Bauer, a former MLB Cy Young Award winner who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, now with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, pitched a no-hitter in his second start of the season today.

Bauer started the second game of a doubleheader on the road against the Lancaster Stormers. He completely dominated the opponent's lineup through the first five innings. In the sixth inning, after one out, he gave up a walk, but he did not allow any hits all game. As it was a doubleheader, the game ended after seven innings according to regulations. Bauer pitched seven innings in this game, throwing 84 pitches, issuing one walk and striking out seven batters. His team ultimately won 13-0.

According to the team, Bauer is the third player in franchise history to achieve a no-hitter. Excluding combined efforts, he is the ninth player in league history to do so. Completing a no-hitter in a seven-inning game is the first instance in team history and the third in the league. After joining the independent league, his season debut saw him pitch four innings, allowing five hits and two runs.

Bauer made his MLB debut in 2012 with the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians). After moving to the Cincinnati Reds, he won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers but was later suspended by MLB due to domestic violence allegations. Regarding this case, he faced no criminal charges, and the civil lawsuit was settled.

After his suspension ended in January 2023, Bauer was released by the Dodgers and later joined NPB's Yokohama DeNA BayStars in mid-season that year. Despite having a two-year gap in playing time, he posted a record of 10 wins, 4 losses, and an ERA of 2.76 over 19 appearances. In 2024, he played in the Mexican League, and last year he returned to DeNA, but his performance was poor with only 4 wins, 10 losses, and an ERA of 4.51 over 21 appearances. Bauer's MLB career totals are 83 wins, 69 losses, and an ERA of 3.79.
