Munetaka Murakami, the Japanese power hitter known as "God of the Village," has made positive progress after straining his right hamstring. White Sox skipper Will Venable noted that Murakami has resumed activities such as running, throwing, and tee batting, but no specific timeline for his comeback has been set.
Murakami suffered the muscle strain while sprinting to first base during the May 29 game against the Detroit Tigers. Venable said the team is gradually increasing Murakami's training load but has yet to establish a clear return date. He remarked, "We're just monitoring his daily recovery, and there's no exact schedule at this point."
Last Friday, Murakami told reporters that if everything goes smoothly, he expects to return within four to six weeks. He has now been sidelined for three weeks since the injury. In his first MLB season, the 57 games he has played yield a .240 batting average, 20 home runs, and 41 RBIs.
