Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, jointly announced today via social media that their second child has arrived safely, posting an adorable picture of the newborn's tiny feet to share the joy with supporters.
Since tying the knot, Ohtani has been methodically completing his life milestones. On June 20, during the home matchup against the Baltimore Orioles, he took paternity leave to be with his family. Later, he posted a joint statement with his beloved wife Mamiko on his personal Instagram account, officially confirming the safe arrival of their second child. The Ohtani couple welcomed their first daughter in April 2025, but they have kept family privacy a top priority, refraining from releasing any photos or names of their daughter. Now approaching his 32nd birthday on July 5, Ohtani took this paternity leave to embrace this important moment in life and is expected to rejoin the team for games by the weekend (U.S. time).
On the afternoon of June 20 (Beijing time), Ohtani shared the happy news in English on Instagram, captioning the post: "It is with great joy that we once again welcome this beautiful day into our lives. We are grateful for the safe arrival of our child and sincerely thank every friend who has supported us along the way." Alongside the message, the photo featured a close-up of the newborn's soft little feet, as well as a heartwarming image of the baby wrapped in a blue blanket and wearing a onesie printed with a design of their beloved dog, "Decoy." The family dog, Decoy, also appeared in the frame, making the family picture feel especially warm and complete.
