Dodgers Suffer Worst Loss of Season, Crushed 11-0 by Orioles; Ohtani Pinch-Hit For and Exited

On June 22, the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Baltimore Orioles at home again. Starter Emmet Sheehan lasted only 3.1 innings, surrendering six runs in his worst outing of the season. The lineup managed just five hits, falling 1-12 in a humiliating rout. This marked the Dodgers' second game this season with double-digit runs allowed, and the 11-run deficit became the team's biggest loss of the year. Shohei Ohtani was even pinch-hit for in the bottom of the seventh inning, leaving the game early.

In the top of the first, the Orioles strung together four hits and a walk off Sheehan, scoring two runs. In the bottom half, Ohtani drew a four-pitch walk, and Freddie Freeman singled to put runners in scoring position. With two outs, Max Muncy delivered an RBI single, cutting the lead to 1-2. However, over the next two innings, Baltimore launched a pair of solo homers—Tyler Ward and Colton Cowser each went deep—extending the lead to 4-1.

The Orioles struck again in the top of the fourth. Sheehan issued two walks before being pulled, and reliever Jack Dreyer walked a batter with two outs, loading the bases. Cowser then came through again with a two-run single. In the top of the seventh, with one out, Baltimore strung together two extra-base hits to add another run, and Pete Alonso followed with a three-run homer, making it 10-1.

The Dodgers failed to score after the first inning. In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Tommy Edman pinch-hit for Ohtani and grounded out. After homering the previous day, Ohtani finished this game with one hit and one walk in two at-bats. In the top of the eighth, Blaze Alexander added a two-run homer, and the Dodgers were completely blown out, losing 1-12. This was the team's worst defeat of the year, surpassing their 5-13 loss to the Angels on June 8.

Ohtani recorded one hit and one walk in two at-bats, scoring the team's only run.
