The East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) recently held a general meeting in Tokyo to officially confirm that the North Korean women's football team has withdrawn from the final of the East Asian Cup E-1 football tournament to be held in South Korea in July due to force majeure. According to the rules of the competition, the Chinese Taipei women's football team was substituted as the second place in the qualifying round and qualified for the finals.

The East Asian Cup E-1 Football Championship is a regional top competition organized by the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF), which has been officially included in the women's competition since 2005, attracting top teams from East Asian countries (regions) to compete for glory. The Chinese Taipei women's football team showed solid performances from the qualifying stage of the 9th East Asian Cup and finished second in the qualifying round in December 2023.
In order to prepare for the 2025 Women's East Asian Cup and the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifying Tournament, the Chinese Taipei women's football team has been actively playing against world-class teams since last year to improve the level of competition. Recent highlights include a match against Australia in December 2024, Mexico, China and Canada in February 2025 and the upcoming 2025 Women's International Football Invitational Tournament in April 2025 – Chinese Taipei vs New Zealand.
The 2025 International Women's Football Invitational Tournament will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 8, 2025 (Tuesday) at the Nanzi Football Stadium in Kaohsiung. This is not only an important match for the Chinese Taipei women's football team to prepare for the East Asian Cup, but also an international-level matchup that shows the strength of Chinese Taipei women's football. In addition to a number of good players on the island, the players also include Matsunaga Saohime, who has completed the naturalization and confirmation of the representative qualification of the Chinese Taipei team, and Su Yuxuan, who is currently playing for Zhejiang Hangzhou Women's Football Club.
