Tomoyuki Kanno conceded only two points in the seventh game The Golden Orioles won their first consecutive game of the new season and won the series

The 2025 season tasted a winning streak for the first time! On Thursday night at Camden Field, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Cleveland Guardians 6-2 to secure a tiebreaker and their first series win of the season. Despite being mid-April, the win came at the right time for the Orioles, who are currently 8-10 – tied with the Astros, Warriors and Loki as the only four teams left in the major leagues this season without a winning streak.

In order to improve the consistency of the line, Orioles coach Brandon Hyde has made changes to the order: Cedric Mullins, who is in hot form, will be the trailblazer, and Gunnar Henderson will be the second baseman for the first time since September 14, 2023. The change of formation was immediate - Henderson blasted his first hit of the season in the first game, and a reverse shot to the left midfield gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead.

Ryan O'Hearn hit a three-pointer in the third inning, Heston Kjerstad added a two-point shot in the sixth inning, and all three home runs came from Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee (conceded six runs in 5.2 innings).

Japanese right-hand thrower Tomoyuki Sugano had the brightest performance in four major league starters. The 35-year-old conceded just two points in seven innings, and although he was hit back-to-back by Daniel Schneemann and Austin Hedges at the start of the third inning, he then let 15 of the last 17 hitters go out, becoming the first starting pitcher of the Orioles to throw in seven innings this season.

It was the latest consecutive win of the season since 1999 for the Orioles, who didn't taste their first streak until Game 24 and 25. The team will take advantage of the win and start a three-game game at home against the Redskins on Friday.
