MLB Major League Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers Japanese star Shohei Ohtani will return to pitching this year, but the pitching progress is a little behind, head coach Dave Roberts revealed that it may be a few months before "Pitcher Ohtani" returns, but he will be on the bench in the regular season and playoffs.
Roberts had given this possible timing for May when Shohei Ohtani pitched before the start of the season, and in a recent interview with The Jim Rome Show, he said of Ohtani's pitching progress, "It looks great and the ball is fast."
Shohei Ohtani threw 14 balls during practice shooting on the 16th US time, including finger fork balls and four-seam and two-seam speedballs, and Roberts said that Shohei Ohtani has amazing physical qualities, "easily breaking 92-93 miles (about 148 to 149 kilometers)."
Shohei Ohtani is currently planning to do a few more cowpen exercises and is expected to start pitching against hitters soon, but Roberts thinks it will be a few months before he returns to the Pitcher Hill, "However, I expect him to definitely return to the Major League Pitcher Hill this season, including the playoffs."
