For three consecutive years, he was sent to the hospital after a collision and is currently in stable condition

San Diego Padres star Luis Arraez was rushed to Houston Methodist after colliding with Astros second baseman Mauricio Dubón during a game at Daikin Park on Sunday night. An official statement from the Padres states that he is "stable, conscious, responsive and mobile" and is undergoing further examination.

The incident occurred in the second offensive and defensive round of the game: Arez, who played the designated strike, executed a sacrificial strike, and Astros first baseman Christian Walker received the ball on the right half and passed to first base. As Dupont rushed to first base to catch the ball, his elbow appeared to hit Arez in the chin.

Under the watchful eye of head coach Mike Shildt, Arez fell to the ground for 11 minutes and the medical team rushed to the ground. His head and neck were secured and he left the field on a stretcher, giving a thumbs up to the crowd as he passed through the right field corner.

The batter, who has been battered for the Padres of the National League for the past three seasons, has a pre-match batting average of 0.287, and has rebounded to 0.338 in the last 17 games after opening the season with an 18.
