Kenta Maeda, who recently reported to Chicago Cubs 3A: Strive to return to the big leagues

Kenta Maeda, a 37-year-old pitcher who was recently released by the Detroit Tigers, announced on social platforms that he has signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs. Maeda said, "I signed a minor league contract with the Cubs, and I will do my best to try to return to the major leagues!"

According to relevant sources, Maeda will report to the Cubs triple-A team Iowa Cubs in the near future. If he is promoted to the major leagues, Maeda will be teammates with fellow Japanese players Sebuta Imonaga and Makoto Suzuki.

Kenta Maeda entered the major leagues and joined the Los Angeles Dodgers through the Hiroshima Carp's entry system, and this year marks his 10th season in Major League Baseball. During his time with the Tigers this season, he was positioned as a bullpen pitcher from the opening game, but his performance was not ideal, playing seven games without a loss and a whopping 7.88 defense rate, and although he is being paid a whopping $10 million a year this year, the Tigers decided to make a big move, DFA and make him a free agent.

The 37-year-old Kenta Maeda has played 226 games in the major leagues, with a record of 68 wins and 56 defeats, and a defense rate of 4.20. At present, it is 35 wins away from the 200 wins of Japan and the United States. With 68 wins in the major leagues and a 4.20 defense rate, he reached his career milestone of 1,000 innings last season and is currently just 13.1 innings away from his career 1,000 innings.
