Dodgers No. 13 rookie creates a legend in a single game with six thieves in a high-end 1A arena to show the art of extreme speed

Stealing bases is an art — and on Sunday, Kendall George gave a masterclass performance for the Los Angeles Dodgers minor league team.

The 13th-ranked Dodgers Rookie picked up two free runs on 2-3 hits and stole six bases in the Great Lakes' 9-1 win over Lake County, a feat rarely seen in the minor league in nearly a decade.

George became only the fifth minor league player since 2015 to complete six steals in a single game — Marlins rookie Emaarion Boyd has done so twice, including a no-hitter six-steal show in April, and a major league player hasn't done so since 2009. It was also the second time George has made four runs in a single game in the 2025 season.

In the opening opener, George hit a base on third base to the infield, and then completed his 14th base steal of the season. Never before in major league history has a seven-game steal, and the 2023 first-round pick almost hit the milestone when he was pinned down when he tried to steal third base.

The 20-year-old midfielder showed off his speed weapon in four different ways, after stealing second and third base again in the fifth inning, and stealing second and third base again after a flat hit from the left fielder in the sixth inning.

Speed has always been George's signature skill. In September 2022, when he represented the U.S. Under-18 national team at the World Cup, he made 10 runs and five steals out of 18 shots. As the fastest pick in the 2023 draft, George earned an 80-point running rating on a 20-80 scale from the MLB Pipeline — an honor only five of the top 100 rookies in the league, including Kellon Lindsey, who finished seventh on Dodgers Farm.

But George is by no means a one-dimensional player. In 148 career games, he averaged 0.392 on base and picked 98 free runs. His sprint explosiveness is just as impressive, setting a lightning record of 3.4 seconds on first base in the 2022 Rookie Development League.

The fast-legged from Humber, Texas leads a lavish roster of eight Dodgers' top 30 rookies. On Sunday, his teammates were on fire: Josue De Paula (Dodgers 2/MLB Big 100 33) hit his seventh home run of the season to take his OPS to 0.928, and Mike Sirota (Dodgers 19) continued his hot streak with his sixth hit in May – his second after moving up to 1A. As a pitcher, right-handed Patrick Copen (Dodgers No. 29) scored just one point in 6.2 innings for 11K.

With top speed, a proven eye for the ball and a consistent skill set, George is proving why he's considered one of the most exciting trailblazers in the minor leagues.
