Dodgers Meritorious Tool Man Stays in Los Angeles Taylor signs with City Angels to regain his chance

The Los Angeles Angels officially announced on Monday that they signed free agent tool Chris Taylor (Chris Taylor) to a one-year, $760,000 contract. To free room on the roster, the team relegated tool man Kyren Paris to Triple A Salt Lake City on Sunday. Taylor will play as a midfielder in Anaheim's home game against the Yankees tonight, playing the eighth bat.

The 34-year-old has grown into a key piece of the puzzle since trading from the Mariners to the Dodgers in June 2016. From 2017 to 2021, he posted an all-around stats of 0.804 attack index (OPS+ 113), 78 hits and 50 thieves, was named an All-Star in 2021, and went down in team history as a 2020 and 2024 World Series champion. In the 2017 National League Championship against the Cubs, he hit two hits and had a batting average of 0.316, which helped him win the series MVP award.

In recent years, due to roster changes and injuries, Taylor has gradually faded out of the rotation. He played in 28 games for the Dodgers this season (6 starts), hit 7 hits with 35 hits, including two second-run hits, contributed 2 RBIs and made 13 strikeouts before being cut on May 18. The Angels fancy their multi-position defensive ability - career accumulating 471.2 innings at second base, 331 innings from partisans, 1,122.1 innings from left field, 602.1 innings from outfielders, and 506.1 innings from third base.

Angels General Manager Perry Minacian said: "Chris's playoff experience and tactical execution can inject key elements into a young squad. As Mike Trout continues to recuperate, Taylor will fill the outfield void. It is worth noting that the decorated veteran will return as a visiting team for the first time when the Angels visit Dodgers Field on September 25.
