Yadier Molina will be re-elected as head coach of Puerto Rico for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Puerto Rico officially announced today that Molina will be at the helm for the second consecutive time, having led the team to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Classic.
The ten-time All-Star, two-time World Series champion and top defensive catcher of all time has previously represented Puerto Rico in all five Classics (four of them as a player). He was a two-time runner-up in the 2013 final against Dominica and the United States in 2017.
The 2026 Classic kicks off on March 5. Puerto Rico, ranked No. 9 in the world, will play Canada for the first time the following day. Group A also includes Colombia, Cuba and Panama, with all group stages being played at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Metropolitan shortstop Francisco Lindor will continue as captain, repeating the role of 2023.
