On August 31st Beijing time, according to European media Meridian Sports, Serbia's men's basketball team has been dealt a heavy setback as team captain Bogdan Bogdanović will miss the rest of the 2025 European Championship due to a hamstring injury. Further examinations revealed a hamstring tear, ruling him out from continuing to represent his country.
Bogdanović was injured after playing 15 minutes in the match against Portugal. In the two European Championship games he participated in, the 33-year-old averaged 20 minutes per game, scoring 9.0 points, grabbing 3.5 rebounds, providing 4.0 assists, and posting an efficiency rating of 12.5.
Serbia holds a 3-0 record in Group A, although their last two victories against Portugal (80-69) and Latvia (84-80) were hard-fought wins.
Jokić scored 39 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Latvia, setting a new career high for his national team. Moving forward, Serbia will undoubtedly need to rely more heavily on Jokić's performance.
Before this European Championship began, Serbia was the clear favorite to win the title. Now, with Bogdan’s injury, their championship hopes have been cast into doubt. This is also a significant blow for the Clippers, as Bogdan’s recovery timeline is uncertain and may affect training camp and games in the upcoming season.
Last season, Bogdan played 30 regular-season games for the Clippers, averaging 11.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, with a shooting percentage of 47.4% and a three-point accuracy of 42.7%.
