Oh yeah.
Lewis, the Nets reporter from The New York Post, thinksZeng Fanbo is the top choice for the Nets’ last two-way contract spot. The Nets’ other two two-way players are Tyson Etienne and EJ Liddell.
Tyson? Having such a tough player on the team means the Nets might not win many games next season, but they certainly won’t lose any brawls.
Just joking.
Although the team insiders say this, ultimately Zeng Fanbo still needs to prove himself through his performance in training camp and preseason to truly secure the Nets’ last two-way contract spot.
The Nets’ 2025-26 preseason schedule is as follows:
October 5th, home game vs. Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem;
October 10th, Macau China Game vs. the Suns;
October 12th, Macau China Game vs. the Suns;
October 18th, away game vs. the Raptors.
No exaggeration, Zeng Fanbo is absolutely the most NBA-ready Chinese forward. Standing about 2.08 meters tall, he is a high-level shooter with athleticism, a sharp shot-blocking instinct covering positions 1 through 5, a perfect modern 3-and-D wing player who any team would love and who can fit into any system.
Last season in the CBA, Zeng Fanbo developed a reliable outside shot, averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game in the regular season, hitting two three-pointers per game at a 40.5% clip; in the playoffs, he averaged 15 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1.6 blocks, making 2.6 threes per game at a 43.3% shooting rate.
If Zeng Fanbo hadn’t suffered a transverse process fracture in his lumbar spine during Game 2 of the second round of this year’s playoffs against Shanxi, he might have helped Beijing win the championship, then fought for a two-way contract in the NBA Summer League, and finally worn the Chinese national team jersey to compete in the Asia Cup to achieve victory... what a perfect summer that would have been for him, but unfortunately, there are no ifs.
Before Yang Hansen, Zeng Fanbo was the hottest rising star in Chinese men’s basketball. Now at 22, everything he strives for is to catch up with the highly anticipated version of himself from before.
