On January 1, Beijing time, the Celtics defeated the Raptors 125-71, sending the opponent to 11 consecutive defeats. The Celtics won by 54 points, the biggest margin of the season so far, after the Grizzlies beat the Warriors by 51 points 144-93. Plus, it was the second-biggest win for Celtic in the 21st century.

In the first quarter of the game, the Raptors couldn't find their senses, scoring only 12 points in a single quarter, and the Green Army led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter. Seven of the Greens scored in double figures, Tatum had 23 points and eight rebounds, Pritchard had 19 points and six rebounds, White had 16 points, Holiday had 14 points, Brown had 12 points and nine rebounds, Hauser had 12 points, and Walsh had 10 points.

This race also broke a number of records. The 54-point win was the Greens' second-biggest win since 2000, with the biggest margin coming against the Bulls in 2018, when the Greens won by 56 points. The Green Army only allowed the Raptors to score 71 points, which was also the team's lowest scoring score this season.

It was also the worst loss in the history of the Raptors, the previous worst being a 48-point defeat against the Timberwolves in April 2024, both of which occurred under Rajakovic.

The Celtics also became the team with the most wins by 50+ points in NBA history, winning by at least 50 points on seven occasions. In second place is the Mavericks with six, the Bucks are third with five, and the Thunder and Warriors are tied for fourth with four.

The Celtics hit at least 20 three-pointers (39 percent of the game) in their 13th game of the season and are 12-1 in those 13 games.
