Russell Westbrook's Latest Destination Odds Released: Kings Lead, Warriors Fourth, Rockets and Mavericks Tied for Second

As of October 14th Beijing time, Westbrook's next team odds have been updated, placing the Kings first, Rockets second, and both the Mavericks and Warriors in the top five. The top five and their odds are: 1. Kings (+150), 2. Rockets and Mavericks (+200), 4. Warriors (+300), 5. Knicks (+350).

The Kings are presently the frontrunner to acquire Westbrook, with both parties showing strong contract interest. However, recent reports indicate that due to forward Keegan Murray's injury, the team is expected to use their last standard contract spot for a forward. If they plan to sign Westbrook, a trade will likely be necessary to clear space, and 13th pick Devon Carter is reportedly available for trade.

Regarding the Rockets, who rank second, despite a productive offseason, the team suffered a major setback: starting point guard Fred VanVleet tore his ACL and is expected to miss the entire season.

VanVleet’s injury creates a shortage at the Rockets’ point guard position for the new season, making them one of Westbrook’s potential landing spots. For Houston, signing Westbrook would mark his second stint with the team and reunite him with former Thunder teammate Kevin Durant, with whom he played before Durant joined the Warriors in 2016.

US media outlined several reasons why Westbrook fits well with the Rockets—

Still capable: Although Westbrook is no longer at his MVP peak, he remains a dependable scorer and playmaker. Last season with the Denver Nuggets, he demonstrated that he can still be a crucial piece for a championship contender.

Consistent stats: At 36 years old, Westbrook averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game last season, shooting 44.9% from the field and 32.3% from three-point range.

Plug-and-play: Thanks to his strong performance last season, Westbrook can integrate seamlessly into the Rockets’ lineup. Of course, the Rockets might also pursue other targets to fill the point guard role or develop internally by giving more minutes to Shepard.
