The Guangdong team announced its National Games roster, featuring the much-anticipated Cui Yongxi in the U22 division.
In mid-December last year, Cui Yongxi tore his left anterior cruciate ligament while playing for the Nets in the Development League. It has been 10 months since, and it is truly time for his comeback. The U22 National Games are not very intense, which makes it perfect for him to find his rhythm.
During this summer's offseason, Cui Yongxi transferred from Guangzhou to Guangdong and signed a four-year Category B contract with his new team, marking a new chapter in his career.
Speaking of Cui Yongxi’s former team, Guangzhou, they participated in this year’s NBA preseason, losing 88-119 to the Spurs, 95-142 to the Clippers, and 74-134 to the Timberwolves, with an average losing margin of 46 points per game.In the final game, the Timberwolves brutally defeated Guangzhou by 60 points, setting a new franchise record for the worst preseason loss.
It was absolutely ruthless. No mercy at all.
This proves that even with two-time All-Star Oladipo, CBA teams still cannot match the strength of NBA teams; the gap is comprehensive.
The 33-year-old Oladipo played in all preseason games for Guangzhou, averaging 19.3 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, hoping to use this platform to return to the NBA. However, both his individual stats and the team’s performance were not promising, so we might soon see him competing in the CBA.
Chen Guohao, who transferred from Beikong to Guangzhou this summer, finally donned his hometown team’s jersey. Across three NBA preseason games, he scored a total of 33 points, leading the domestic players with an average of 11 points per game: 14 points and 3 rebounds vs. Spurs, 13 points and 5 rebounds vs. Clippers, and 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist vs. Timberwolves.
The new season’s Guangzhou team can field a domestic lineup including Guo Ailun, Chen Guohao, Xu Xin, Li Xiangbo, Zhang Wenjie, and Guan Ziyu. If Oladipo also plays for them in the CBA, they clearly have a chance to contend for the playoffs. Last season, they finished 15th in the league with a 12-34 record.
With Guo Shiqiang stepping down and recent trades of Chen Yingjun, Cui Yongxi, and Jiao Boqiao, Guangzhou is embarking on a long rebuilding journey!
