On November 6th, during the group stage of the 15th National Games, Beijing competed against Liaoning. Playing with only 10 players after the National Games, Beijing had already endured two losses in a row but fought hard in this match. In the first quarter, Beijing’s Liao Sanning, Fang Shuo, and Zhai Xiaochuan scored consecutively, leading 7-0 at the start. Fu Hao, Zhao Jiwei, and Li Xiaoxu quickly helped Liaoning take the lead. Having lost two games previously, Beijing played with a do-or-die mentality, matching Liaoning’s physicality comparable to the CBA league. Both teams combined for 19 free throws in the first quarter. In the final moments, Zhai Xiaochuan’s three-pointer helped Beijing finish the quarter leading 20-19 over Liaoning. In the second half, Wang Shaojie scored on a layup, and Liao Sanning’s long shot tied the game. The teams exchanged baskets, with the score tied several times. Fang Shuo’s three-pointer and Raymond’s layup extended the lead. Yuan Shuai’s long-range shot stopped the bleeding, while Zhao Jiwei made successive drives to the basket, putting Liaoning ahead of Beijing. Beijing’s inside players responded strongly, with Fan Ziming scoring and drawing fouls to regain the lead. Zhao Jiwei answered with a three-pointer over Fang Shuo, putting Liaoning ahead 70-69. In the final quarter, amid chaotic play, Liaoning maintained a slight edge due to their superior strength. After Han Dejun left the court, Wang Shaojie scored multiple strong baskets under the rim, pushing Beijing ahead. At a critical moment, Gao Shiyan’s shot from the top of the arc tied the game again. Zhai Xiaochuan immediately responded, and Yuan Shuai also hit a three-pointer in return. In the final moments, Zhao Jiwei made free throws, and Beijing’s last attempt failed, resulting in Liaoning’s 93-90 victory over Beijing.
