4-for-1! A robbery-style trade! Grizzlies center comments on Yang Hansen

In the Blazers' road game against the Grizzlies, because Klingen might not play due to a calf injury and the opponent has big center Zach Edey, the urgently recalled Yang Hansen is likely to take the court in this match.

Edey, selected 9th overall in the 2024 draft, is in his second year this season, currently averaging 26.2 minutes, 13.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, shooting 65.5%. He has one-quarter Chinese heritage, with his grandfather hailing from Guangzhou, Guangdong.

In a recent interview discussing Yang Hansen, Edey said he watched him play in this year's Summer League, noting many outstanding aspects, and thought it was cool to meet another Asian player on the court.

The Grizzlies also have another player worth our and the Blazers' attention, namely Coward. At this year's draft, the Blazers and Grizzlies made a deal, sending out the 11th overall pick (Coward) in exchange for the 16th overall pick (Yang Hansen) plus three draft picks.

This guy is 22 years old, a 1.96-meter swingman, and has performed well this season, averaging 27.3 minutes, 13.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, with shooting percentages of 45.2%, 32.7%, and 86.2%. As for 20-year-old Yang Hansen, he averages 6.8 minutes, 2.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game.

Coward's future looks very bright, and he is considered a potential next Leonard, with the Grizzlies even intending for him to replace Morant as the team's new star player.. At the end of October this year,a well-known Yahoo journalist bluntly called the Grizzlies' selection of Coward a robbery-style move in this draft.

Clearly, the better Coward performs and if Yang Hansen still fails to make an impact in regular games, the Blazers will face increasing criticism.

Currently, the Grizzlies stand ninth in the Western Conference with a 10-13 record, while the Blazers are tenth at 9-14, just half a game ahead of the 11th-place Jazz. Unless the Blazers trade away Lowry soon and lose hope for the playoffs, they will likely not focus on developing Yang Hansen, meaning our Chinese player will continue to be DNP in regular games or be sent to the G League for development.

What else can be said? Trust the process; every step you take counts.
