23+5! The best NCAA game of his career! China's top scorer truly has talent

He went wild, absolutely unstoppable.

Lin Wei activated his CBA scoring king mode, frequently hitting crucial shots, ultimately playing 33 minutes with shooting stats of 8/14, including 6/12 from beyond the arc and 1/2 from the free throw line, tallying 23 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, and 2 steals. He set multiple personal NCAA career records, but sadly Oregon University fell 85-88 in overtime to Rutgers University.

In the final moments of the game, Oregon’s coach, who always emphasizes smart basketball, gave Lin Wei unlimited shooting freedom, triggering his signature aggressive style. This guy has always been known for his clutch mentality during his CBA days.

During his time with the Tongxi team in the CBA, Lin Wei averaged 15.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in his rookie season. In his sophomore year, his stats rose to 20 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. By his junior year, he was averaging 21 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.4 steals, making him one of the most aggressive domestic backcourt players—yet he has never played for the national team in any FIBA competitions.

Perhaps Lin Wei’s NCAA performance will catch Guo Shiqiang’s attention and lead to his call-up to the Chinese national team. Last year’s Asia Cup already gave a glimpse of the “best summer worker” Wang Junjie (from University of San Francisco).

Back to the point, this godlike performance might completely unlock Lin Wei’s potential and earn him even greater trust from Oregon’s coach. Our Chinese guard could gain more playing time and a higher tactical role, which would allow him to post even better stats. Who knows, maybe one day an NBA team will notice him.

Born on December 25, 2003, Lin Wei entered the draft last summer but went undrafted. From now on, he can only join the NBA by signing directly with teams, which means he must continue to prove his readiness and impact on the NCAA stage, as potential alone won’t sell anymore.

If all goes well, Lin Wei will travel around this summer to try out for various NBA teams, then participate in the Summer League, aiming for an Exhibit 10 or two-way contract. Of course, a full NBA contract would be ideal, though the chances are slim.
