Anthony Davis aims for a maximum salary extension ahead of schedule! Rich Paul is set to push for a trade: having three number one picks on the same team seems unlikely.

On January 9th Beijing time, according to reporter Siegel, Davis and his camp are aiming for a max contract extension ahead of schedule. Reporter MacMahon provided additional reports regarding Davis and the Mavericks—

First, MacMahon disclosed that he heard Irving won't be back before the trade deadline. He also mentioned he is not sure if Irving will return to the court at all this season. Although Mavericks owner Dumont would prefer to see Irving play alongside Davis and Cooper, it is very likely that such a scenario won’t happen.

The Mavericks’ response to Davis about an early extension is “undecided.” This stance effectively amounts to a “no,” and Rich Paul has already interpreted it as a rejection. He intends to push for Davis to be traded before the deadline. Davis is reluctant to relocate his family, but securing an early extension remains his top priority.

Davis’s main potential destinations remain the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors. In negotiations with the Hawks, the Mavericks have been actively demanding draft picks, but MacMahon believes the Hawks won’t part with multiple picks in a deal. If Rich Paul can arrange a trade sending Davis to his preferred team, the Mavericks will “fully support” it. He stated that the Mavericks want this trade to give the team a “financial advantage.” They aim to acquire draft picks and financial flexibility through the trade to build around Flagler.

MacMahon also revealed that the Warriors are indeed linked to trade rumors involving Davis. For the trade to happen, Green would need to be moved to a third team; however, Dallas’s interest in Kuminga remains unclear, and any deal with the Warriors “must include” draft pick compensation.
