On January 14th Beijing time, reporter Shams shared further insights about the incident involving Schröder and Doncic. Following the Lakers' win over the Kings on December 29th, a confrontation occurred that resulted in Schröder receiving a three-game suspension.

“Dennis Schröder deliberately waited behind the player tunnel at Crypto.com Arena for Luka Doncic,” Shams reported on the show, “When he saw Doncic and had a brief moment alone with him, he confronted him and attempted to throw a punch. The league’s investigation confirmed Schröder did try to assault him, but he did not actually hit Doncic’s face or upper body.”
“So why did Schröder act this way? From what I understand, in recent games, Doncic had been repeatedly calling him an insulting word starting with ‘B,’ even going back to their Olympic matchup during the offseason,” he added, “Schröder’s position was clear: if you insult me with that word on the court, expect that I won’t just tolerate it quietly off the court.”
The NBA has suspended Schröder for three games due to his “confrontation and attempted assault on another player.” According to the schedule, Schröder will miss games against the Rockets, Lakers, and Knicks. The Kings won the first two games he missed. Salary experts estimate Schröder will lose $291,807 in pay due to this suspension.
So far this season, Schröder has played 31 games, averaging 13 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 41.3% and a three-point percentage of 34.4%.
