Paul: Heh heh.

In the New York Derby, the Knicks held a 59-point lead over the Nets at one point...

Sadly, the Knicks chose not to finish them off, and the final score was 120-66, a 54-point victory. Paul swore and furiously threw the remote at the TV.
Scoring only 66 points in a single game, the Nets are a rare sight in today’s offensive boom era, setting the lowest single-game team score this season in the NBA. The previous lows were 78 points by the Pacers and 79 by the Clippers.

They’re all professional NBA players, so why is the gap so huge? Those who didn’t watch might think the Knicks were playing against a CBA team.

Despite the embarrassment, as long as they lost, the Nets’ management would be happy because it adds another piece to the 2026 No. 1 draft pick.
So far, the Nets stand 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 12-30 record and fifth worst in the league. The teams "ahead" of them are the Wizards (10-32), Pacers (10-35), Kings (12-32), and Pelicans (10-36).

According to the rules, the three teams with the worst regular-season records have a 14% chance at the No. 1 pick, while the fourth and fifth worst get 11.5% each.
Clearly, the Nets still have no shame; their quest for the top draft pick remains a tough road ahead.
The 2026 draft class is an epic super draft year, featuring three top prospects: Kansas guard Dalen Peterson, BYU wing AJ Dybantsa, and Duke forward Cameron Boozer.

The Nets currently lack a cornerstone player, so acquiring any one of these superstars would give the team real hope for the future.
As for Porter Jr., acquired from the Nuggets last offseason, although he’s performed well this season averaging 25.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, he’s already 27 years old. The hope now is to trade him for two first-round picks.

It is reported that the Lakers and Warriors, two high-profile teams, along with the Eastern Conference leader Pistons, are all very interested in Porter Jr.
This 2023 champion small forward earns $38.33 million this season and is set for a $40.81 million salary next season.
