On January 22nd Beijing time, the Bucks fell 102-122 to the Thunder, whose lineup was missing multiple rotation players due to injuries. The Bucks have dropped four out of five recent games, and the margin of defeat in the last three was no less than 18 points.

Following the defeat to the Thunder, a reporter asked Giannis if he had identified any common problems causing the team's continuous heavy losses.
Giannis said, "We played with zero effort, absolutely no fight. We're constantly wasting energy on useless plays, showing no desire to win. The team lacks coordination and chemistry. Some players are too selfish, only thinking about their own shots, completely ignoring the team, failing to play smart for the group, everyone trying to do it alone."
“Many times, I feel that when we fall behind by 10, 15, or even 20 points, we just hope to catch up in one possession, but that’s simply unrealistic.”
Midway through the season, the Bucks’ streak of nine consecutive playoff appearances is in serious jeopardy. Currently, the team stands 18-25, ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference, and has yet to achieve a three-game winning streak this season.

To make matters worse, the team now has to adjust to playing without Kevin Porter Jr. Porter is averaging 16.8 points per game this season, second on the team, and leads with 7.4 assists per game, but he is sidelined with an oblique strain with an uncertain return date. Bucks head coach Rivers stated, "I can confirm he won’t play in the short term, but the exact length of his absence is still unknown."
For the Bucks, a possible solution is to get the ball more into Giannis’ hands. The two-time regular season MVP has taken fewer than 13 shots per game in the last four games, including only 11 attempts against the Thunder.
“I’ve never been the type to yell at teammates, curse, or aggressively demand the ball,” Giannis said. “I’ve never done that in my career. I thought my teammates understood the impact I bring — I can create my own scoring chances, feed my teammates, and help the team go further.”

“But for some reason, I just can’t understand the current situation. Maybe it’s because the team is too young, maybe it’s the poor recent results, or maybe some think it’s their turn to carry the team and turn things around. I really can’t figure it out, not at all.”
Giannis admitted he has been trying to play more aggressively and shared some advice he received. “Someone told me there are white swans and black swans in this world, and I need to be the black swan — play stronger and actively demand the ball,” he said. “That’s something I’ve never done before, never in my career. But now, maybe I need to learn to do it.”
