On January 27th Beijing time, the NBA revealed the players selected for the 2026 Rising Stars Challenge (the All-Star Rookie Game), including Chinese player Yang Hansen on the G League roster. This season, he has appeared in 8 G League games, averaging 17 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks, with shooting percentages of 51.7% field goals, 28.6% three-pointers, and 79.3% free throws.

This annual event highlights the league’s top young talents and features a mini-tournament with four teams competing in three games. The participants are standout rookies and sophomores from the league. The event is scheduled for February 14, 2026, Beijing time, at the Los Angeles Clippers’ home arena. As usual, the Rising Stars game is part of the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend.

The NBA-selected players will be divided into three teams through a draft, while the fourth team will be composed of top performers from the NBA G League. The coaches for the four teams have been confirmed as Anthony, McGrady, Carter, and Doc Rivers, with Rivers coaching the G League team.
Last season, Rockets’ third overall pick Shepard struggled in the NBA but excelled in the G League, so the league included him on the G League roster to allow his participation in the Rising Stars game.

Yang Hansen’s situation this season is similar; he has had limited playing time with the Trail Blazers, appearing in 26 games with an average of only 8.3 minutes per game, contributing 2.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists, shooting 28.6% from the field, 15.6% from three, and 93.8% from the free-throw line.
