Rejecting all offers! The Rockets have declared Eason off-limits and plan to acquire a guard-center at a low cost.

On January 27th Beijing time, according to reporter Stein, the Rockets are not entertaining any trade deals involving Eason ahead of the trade deadline. They have turned down all trade inquiries and related calls concerning him.

Eason will become a restricted free agent this offseason, and the Rockets have firmly decided to retain him. Stein pointed out: "There was an official statement today denying all trade rumors about Eason. This fourth-year forward for the Rockets will not be put on the trading block for interested teams before the trade deadline."

Previously, Eason and the Rockets failed to reach an agreement on an early extension of his rookie contract. Nevertheless, the Rockets still hold matching rights, meaning if Eason receives an offer from another team this July, the Rockets can match it to keep him.

Eason has long developed into a dependable versatile player, but unfortunately, he has been plagued by injuries throughout this season and the past two seasons.

This 24-year-old has played 24 games this season, averaging 12.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, with an impressive three-point shooting percentage of 46.8%, ranking second in the league.

Due to his well-rounded skill set, many teams will continue to monitor Eason’s status until he either re-signs with the Rockets or signs with a new team.

Earlier reports indicated the Rockets showed interest in Pelicans’ tenacious guard Alvarado, and Yahoo Sports confirmed this. However, Alvarado is not the Rockets’ top target; acquiring this 27-year-old guard simply fits their strategy of low-risk, low-cost signings. According to Yahoo Sports, theoretically, guards like Melton, Cole Anthony, Little Curry, and centers such as Dairon Sharp, Kevin Looney, and Isaiah Jackson are all within the Rockets’ scouting scope.
