On January 28th Beijing time, the Trail Blazers fell 111-115 to the Wizards. Yang Hansen, coming off the bench, logged 11 minutes and 55 seconds, recording 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist, with 3 of those rebounds on the offensive glass. His 5 rebounds tied his career record, and the 3 offensive rebounds marked a new career high. Importantly, during the nearly 12 minutes he was on the floor, the Blazers led their opponents by 11 points; when he was off, they trailed by 15. In the end, Yang’s plus-minus of +11 was the highest on the team.

After the game, Yang Hansen’s performance drew widespread attention. The Blazers media outlet BlazersLead wrote: “Without a doubt, this was Yang Hansen’s best game in his career so far! Yes, the opponent was the Wizards, mostly their bench players, but he played confidently and composed on both ends of the floor. Plus-minus +11, the highest on the team.”

Fan novofy4004 commented: “Yang Hansen looks much more comfortable than before, and his shot selection is wise! His playmaking ability is also improving. Should we consider trading Robert (Williams) to give Yang more room to grow?”

Fan lunde360 wrote: “Just finished watching the game, and the Blazers basically handed the win away! Klingen and Saar were competing hard, trying to force it. Avdija and Holiday played terribly. Yang Hansen’s plus-minus was +11, yet coach Splitter limited his minutes citing defense—#FireSplitter.”
Regardless, Yang Hansen’s progress is clearly visible. We look forward to him improving even more in the second half of the season. Yesterday, it was confirmed that Yang will represent the G League in the All-Star rookie game, which is a great opportunity to showcase his talents.
