Here it comes! Rumors say the Rockets are interested in a trade! This is a four-time rebounding champion.

The Rockets have finally realized what they lack and what they should add.

Reporter Murrows reported,because Adams is out for the season due to left ankle surgery, the Rockets are considering a trade for Drummond (in a contract year, earning $5 million).

Shortly after, caring American media suggested the following trade idea:

Rockets acquire Grimes and Drummond;

Philadelphia receives Finney-Smith and two 2026 second-round draft picks.

Drummond, born August 10, 1993, is a 2.11m tall center with a 2.29m wingspan. This season with Philadelphia, he has appeared in 36 games, starting 17, averaging 20 minutes, 7 points, 8.9 rebounds (3.5 offensive boards), shooting 50% from the field and 36.2% from three (17 of 47).

At his peak, this guy was a two-time All-Star (2015-16, 2017-18), four-time rebounding leader (2015-16, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20), and once made the All-NBA Third Team (2015-16). In 2015, representing the Pistons against the Pacers, he grabbed 29 rebounds and scored 25 points, making him one of the greatest rebounders in NBA history.

In short, Drummond’s arrival can at least fill the rebounding gap left by Adams’ injury, though defensively he naturally can’t be compared to Adams.

During the five games Adams has missed so far, Capela, who rejoined Houston last offseason on a three-year $21.11 million deal, has grabbed a total of 25 rebounds. Although he is now the only true center on the team, his playing time hasn’t changed much because the Rockets mostly use small lineups with players like Sengun and Smith defending inside.

Actually, Capela is only 31 years old, younger than Adams (32) and Drummond (32), but his decline has been much faster. He’s no longer the dominant big man who excelled at rebounding and finishing easy putbacks.

So far, the Rockets stand fourth in the Western Conference with a 28-17 record, just half a game ahead of the fifth-place Lakers (28-18), and one game ahead of the sixth-place Timberwolves (29-19) and seventh-place Suns (28-19), facing the risk of falling out of the playoff spots.
