On February 1st Beijing time, as reported by Fischer and Stein, the Warriors probably won’t put Butler’s contract into the trade deal for Giannis. This could mean that Green is going to part ways with Curry.

The report stated: “In the past 24 hours, there have been new developments regarding the Giannis trade. We have learned that due to Butler’s season-ending knee injury on January 19th, the Warriors are very unlikely to include Butler’s contract in their pursuit of Giannis. So, what does this mean for Draymond Green, who has never left the Warriors during his career? The general consensus has been that if the Warriors want to present a serious offer, they must include either Green or Butler in the trade to meet salary matching requirements.”

Following that, reporter Sidery revealed a potential offer the Warriors prepared to get Giannis by replacing Butler with Green: Green, Kuminga, Podziemski, Moody, first-round picks in 2026, 2028, 2030, a 2031 pick swap right, and a 2032 first-round pick. Additionally, this trade would require a third team to take on Green’s contract.

Green told reporters that he is completely “untroubled by these rumors.” “I’ve been with this team for 14 years,” Green said, “so I have no reason to sit here worrying about leaving. But if I do get traded, that’s just part of business. I’m not losing sleep over it; I slept well last night.” He added that he won’t constantly ask the Warriors’ management about their plans but will “always be willing” to listen and cooperate with the team’s arrangements.

“I’m not going to go knocking on doors asking, ‘Hey, what exactly are you planning?’” Green said. “I’ll keep doing my job as usual. My phone is always on, and no matter how things unfold, I’m ready to support the team.”
NBC Sports previously reported that the “general consensus” among Warriors insiders is that if the team wants to acquire Giannis through a trade, Curry is the team’s “only untouchable asset.”
