Curry's MRI results are out! Diagnosed with patellofemoral pain syndrome, he will miss 7 more games and likely miss out on awards.

On February 1st Beijing time, Warriors head coach Kerr stated after today's practice that Curry's right knee shows no severe damage. The official diagnosis from the MRI is patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly known as "runner's knee."

“He is currently being monitored daily,” Kerr added, “We need to balance pushing for wins with managing his health, especially before the All-Star break. We’ll see if he can maintain regular playing time or if occasional rest days are necessary.”

Runner’s knee refers to a group of knee joint injuries caused by running and similar activities. It is a common chronic overuse injury in sports medicine, mainly characterized by pain around the patella or on the outer side of the knee, worsening during downhill running, prolonged sitting, or knee bending movements.

The Warriors' outside scoring is already strained: Butler was sidelined for the season last week due to an ACL tear, and trade candidate Kuminga is also out with knee discomfort.

In the latter part of the third quarter against the Pistons, after completing a 2+1 layup, Curry hobbled back to the locker room. Post-game, he was still limping while walking in the locker room but did not have ice or knee braces on his right knee.

Although he will turn 38 in just over a month, Curry remains the cornerstone of this team aiming to be active in the trade market (deadline on February 6). He leads the league this season with an average of 4.5 three-pointers made per game and has been selected as a starter for the 2026 All-Star Game in Inglewood for the 12th time.

Curry has already missed 11 games this season due to injury, including previous inflammation in the same right knee during the away game against the Timberwolves. He must play at least 65 games to qualify for regular season awards, meaning missing 7 more games this season would disqualify him from award consideration.
