Here it is, the third trade finalized.
Reported by insider Shams:The Hawks have traded Kleiza to the Trail Blazers, receiving Reece and two second-round draft picks in return.

Since Reece (in his contract year, $2.22 million) is out for the season with a stress fracture, the Hawks' real target is the two second-round picks from the Blazers, with Reece included only to match salaries.

Reece, born June 26, 1996, is a 2.06-meter big man who went undrafted in 2018. This season, he averaged 8.1 minutes, 2.9 points, and 1.2 rebounds per game. He has played two and a half seasons with the Trail Blazers, and his NBA career may be ending here.

Notably, Reece played for the Qingdao team in the CBA during the 2022-23 season, averaging 25 minutes with 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2 blocks per game. He also briefly trained with the then-underage Yang Hansen. Unfortunately, they only played together half a season on the Trail Blazers before going separate ways, and they may never share the court again.

The departure of big brother Reece is the first time Yang Hansen has experienced the harsh reality of the NBA trade market...

As for the Trail Blazers’ new addition Kleiza (salary $2.35 million), born June 19, 2000, a 2.03-meter wing and the 7th pick in the 2020 second round, he has averaged 22.3 minutes, 9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists this season. Shooting 42.3% from beyond the arc with 2.2 made threes per game, he will significantly strengthen his new team’s perimeter firepower.

So far,the Trail Blazers rank third in the league with 41.7 three-point attempts per game and are 11th with 14 made threes per game, but their three-point shooting percentage is a low 33.6%, near the bottom of the league.Currently, the team holds a 23-26 record, sitting ninth in the Western Conference, four games ahead of the 11th-place Mavericks.

According to renowned reporter Siegel, trading Reece for Kleiza is just the first step by the Trail Blazers before the February 6 trade deadline. Next, they plan to actively shop Robert Woodard II, who is in the final year of his contract worth $13.28 million this season.

It is foreseeable that the Trail Blazers will likely keep only Klingen and Yang Hansen as their two big men, which presents both an opportunity and a new challenge.
