On February 2nd Beijing time, the Cavaliers, Kings, and Bulls finalized a three-team trade, with all three franchises announcing the deal. To complete this trade, the Bulls waived Javon Carter, and the Cavaliers waived Luke Travers.

Cavaliers’ Basketball Operations President, Kobe Altman, stated: “After careful evaluation and considering the current competitive landscape in the Eastern Conference, we believe adding Schröder and Ellis will enhance our roster depth and improve rotational flexibility, helping us build a team capable of contending for a championship now and in the future.”
“This season the league is highly competitive, and this trade gives us more confidence to pursue deeper playoff goals. At the same time, I want to thank Hunter, who quickly established himself and contributed since joining Cleveland, always representing the Cavaliers with professionalism on the court. We appreciate everything he has done both on and off the court and wish him all the best in Sacramento. Travers was our 2022 draft pick, and we have witnessed his steady growth year by year. We also thank him for his contributions to the team.”
