On February 3rd Beijing time, NBA reporter Charania reported that league insiders disclosed the Golden State Warriors are the most enthusiastic team vying for the Greek Freak.

Charania noted that Warriors owner Joe Lacob and GM Mike Dunleavy share the view that, to secure this Bucks star, every player except Stephen Curry can be included in trade talks. He also added,In the roster upgrade plan before the trade deadline, the Greek Freak is the Warriors' sole target. If a deal cannot be reached by the deadline, the Warriors intend to retain their most valuable assets and try again to acquire the Greek Freak this summer..
Sources also told Charania, the Bucks have not yet declined the Warriors’ latest offer.Charania stated that Bucks GM Jon Horst and his management team are very interested in the possibility of receiving a large number of future assets from the Warriors. However, the Bucks’ front office is in no rush to make a decision and the official announcement is expected within the last 24 hours before the deadline.

Charania further explained,if the Greek Freak remains with the Bucks this season, the likelihood of Kuminga being traded before the deadline will significantly decrease. The Warriors hold a 2026-27 team option on Kuminga worth $24.3 million, and keeping him could become a highly valuable asset during the offseason.
Charania also mentioned that the Warriors have some interest in Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. and Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III, but it is unlikely they will acquire either player this week. Despite rampant trade rumors, Charania remains skeptical that either player will change teams before the deadline.
In his report, Charania reiterated recent news, stating that in trade scenarios involving the Greek Freak, the possibility of Green replacing Butler as a trade piece is steadily increasing.Over the weekend, he contacted several sources familiar with the trade talks, all of whom did not “explicitly rule out” the possibility of Green being included in a deal.An executive from another team said that Green might agree to be traded and plans to decline his $27.6 million player option for next season, aiming to become a free agent and then return to a significantly stronger Warriors squad.

“You have to understand, even if the Warriors get the Greek Freak now, without Butler’s support, they wouldn’t make the Finals,” the executive told Charania. “But if they use Green as a trade chip to gain more assets, the Warriors could pull off this blockbuster deal and disrupt other teams also targeting the Greek Freak. I’m certain there are teams right now willing to give up a first-round pick to acquire Green for a championship push. I’m 100% confident that if they can get Green in the next three to four months to chase a title, those teams would gladly help the Warriors make this trade for the Greek Freak.”
