Kuminga is set to make his debut as early as February 20! The Hawks officially updated his left knee injury status: he will miss at least three more games.

On February 8 Beijing time, the Atlanta Hawks officially declared that their newly acquired forward Jonathan Kuminga has a left knee bone bruise and will have his injury reassessed following the All-Star weekend.

This 23-year-old athlete hyperextended his left knee in the January 22 match against the Mavericks, marking his final appearance for the Warriors. Afterward, Kuminga and Hield were traded to the Hawks, with the Warriors acquiring Porzingis in exchange.

Due to his knee injury, Kuminga will miss the next three Hawks games (against the Hornets, Timberwolves, and Hornets consecutively). His debut for Atlanta could come as soon as February 20 in an away game versus the 76ers, which is the first game after the All-Star break.

The 2021 seventh overall pick requested a trade from the Warriors on January 16 (the first day he was eligible to be traded). According to Warriors reporter Johnson, although Kuminga was expected to be traded, he was still shocked to learn he would be sent to the Hawks.

Kuminga is expected to become an unrestricted free agent this summer — his contract includes a team option worth $24.3 million for the 2026-27 season, which the Hawks must decide to exercise by July 1.

So far this season, Kuminga has played 20 games for the Warriors, averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 45.4%, three-point shooting at 32.1%, and free throw accuracy of 74.2%. The Hawks currently hold a 26-27 record, ranking 9th in the Eastern Conference.
