NBA announces Players of the Week: Castle and Johnson honored; Kawhi, Klingenberg, and Wembanyama among nominees

On February 10th Beijing time, the NBA officially announced the Week 16 Players of the Week. Spurs’ Castle was selected as the Western Conference Player of the Week, achieving this honor for the first time in his career. Hawks’ Johnson was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, marking his second career recognition, both occurring this season. Kawhi, Klingenberg, Wembanyama, and others received nominations.

Western Conference Player of the Week: Castle

In the past week, Castle averaged 24 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 63% from the field, helping the Spurs achieve a 3-0 record.

Against the Thunder, Castle scored 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks; in two games versus the Mavericks, he posted 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and then 40 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. The 40 points marked Castle’s career-high.

This season, Castle averages 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game, shooting 46.7% from the field. The Spurs hold a 36-16 record, currently second in the Western Conference.

Eastern Conference Player of the Week: Johnson

Over the past week, Johnson averaged 27.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 11.3 assists, leading the Hawks to a 2-1 record.

In the game against the Heat, Johnson recorded 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists; facing the Jazz, he posted 22 points, 16 rebounds, 15 assists, and 2 blocks; against the Hornets, Johnson scored 31 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and made 3 steals.

This season, Johnson averages 23.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game, shooting 50.2% from the field. The Hawks stand at 26-28, currently ninth in the Eastern Conference.
