Right knee ACL tear! Another Pacers player out for the season: Furfey injured shortly after gaining significant playing time

On February 10th Beijing time, according to Hoops Hype reporter Scotto, league insiders confirmed that Pacers forward Johnny Furfey had an MRI today showing a right knee ACL tear. The Pacers’ reporter East also confirmed this information. American media suggest Furfey will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Furfey, the 35th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, got injured during an away game loss to the Raptors when he lost balance landing after a dunk attempt. The sophomore forward immediately clutched his right knee in pain, and the entire team gathered around him, clearly indicating the injury was severe. Seeing his teammate suffer such a serious injury, already season-out Haliburton showed a pained expression. Head coach Carlisle also looked deeply disappointed.

This is a heavy blow for Furfey—he had started 21 of the Pacers’ last 22 games. As a second-round pick, he had earned the coach’s trust and significant playing time, but sadly, fate dealt him a cruel setback. Such a serious injury is undoubtedly a major challenge for any professional athlete.

So far this season, Furfey has appeared in 35 games, averaging 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. In the 21 games he started, he averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
