Warriors owner’s potential plan revealed! Likely to acquire Adebayo and Ajayi to form a cross-league star duo

On February 11th Beijing time, NBA reporter Shams Charania revealed that Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob is considering a noteworthy plan: to create a cross-league star lineup featuring Bam Adebayo and Ajayi Wilson.

In his latest piece, Charania explained that by holding onto long-term assets, the Warriors are positioned to act decisively in the offseason. While Giannis Antetokounmpo remains a league-wide target, Charania also mentioned several alternative star paths that could reshape the Warriors’ future, including the possibility of Adebayo being traded.

“With assets preserved, the Warriors can make strong moves again during the offseason,” Charania wrote. “Does this mean they will pursue Giannis once more? Possibly. But what if players like Towns or Leonard enter the market? Or if the Cavaliers plan to trade Jarrett Allen, or if Adebayo requests a trade from the Heat?”

Charania pointed out that the Warriors have previously shown interest in Adebayo, and his close relationship with Butler adds fuel to speculation about his future with the Heat.

“After all, the Warriors have been interested in Adebayo over the past year, as we reported earlier, and his bond with Butler remains strong,” Charania stated. “Adebayo is definitely a target Warriors fans should keep in mind, especially since Lacob also owns the WNBA’s Golden State Warriors, and he aims to make a major signing of a superstar soon.”

Ajayi Wilson is about to become a free agent, which has intensified rumors about the Warriors pursuing Adebayo.

This structure, with two teams under the same owner, opens up greater possibilities: current Las Vegas Aces star and four-time WNBA MVP Wilson is expected to be one of the most sought-after free agents in the women’s league. Charania reported that Wilson is a core acquisition target for Joe Lacob and the new Golden State Warriors WNBA team.

“Sources say that four-time WNBA MVP Ajayi Wilson is a primary free agent target for Lacob and the Warriors’ women’s team,” Charania wrote. “Why does this matter for the Warriors’ men’s basketball? Because Wilson and Adebayo have had a close relationship for a long time. These two becoming the faces of the Warriors’ men’s and women’s teams is definitely a storyline worth watching.”

At 28 years old and in his ninth professional season, Adebayo remains the Heat’s interior cornerstone. In the first 47 games this season, he has averaged 31.3 minutes, 18.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1 steal, with a field goal percentage of 44.6% and a three-point percentage of 34.2%.

Wilson, 29, just completed his eighth professional season, playing 40 games with averages of 31.2 minutes, 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, 1.6 steals, shooting 50.5% from the field and 42.4% from beyond the arc.

Currently, Adebayo remains focused on leading the Heat to the playoffs. The Heat (28 wins, 27 losses) are ranked 8th in the Eastern Conference, while the Warriors (29 wins, 25 losses) hold the 8th spot in the Western Conference.
