Curry will miss tomorrow's game against the Celtics with no definite return date! Porzingis to debut against his former team, enjoying Warriors' offensive system

On February 19th Beijing time, the Golden State Warriors will play the Boston Celtics tomorrow, and star Stephen Curry will be sidelined with no clear timetable for his return.

The positive news for the Warriors is that newcomer Porzingis is anticipated to make his first appearance for the team in the matchup against the Celtics. Although officially questionable, Porzingis told the media that he is "ready to step on the court."

Before the All-Star break, Warriors coach Kerr optimistically stated that Curry’s right knee swelling and pain might subside, possibly allowing him to play against the Celtics. However, after returning to the training facility Wednesday evening local time, Curry informed the medical staff that his knee still didn’t feel ready for contact practice.

"His physical condition hasn’t reached the necessary level yet," Kerr said. "It’s unfortunate. Tomorrow, after he undergoes a recovery assessment with the medical team, we’ll provide an update."

Kerr mentioned that Curry might undergo another MRI scan following discussions with the team’s chief medical officer, Celebrini, who is currently in Milan watching his son McLean represent Canada in Olympic ice hockey.

Before the All-Star Game, Curry was sidelined by the team due to ongoing pain and swelling, missing the last five consecutive games.

"We have to be absolutely certain," Kerr said. "He also has to be sure himself... The situation is a bit unclear right now, but that’s how these kinds of injuries typically are."

In an interview with ESPN on February 6th, Curry stated that his right knee was "trending positively" but he would remain cautious before returning to play.

"All inflammation and pain must be completely eliminated," Curry said. "We still need to continuously monitor and manage the injury. Returning too soon could worsen the condition."

Porzingis joined the Warriors via trade from the Hawks on trade deadline day, with Kuminga and Hield sent to Atlanta. This season, he has played only 17 games due to injuries and Achilles tendinitis but has been recovering with the Warriors’ medical staff during the All-Star break and participated in team contact drills Wednesday evening.

Kerr stated that Porzingis will initially have limited minutes with restrictions. He is expected to come off the bench against his former team, the Celtics, and pair up with new teammate Horford — whom he previously played with in Boston.

"It feels strange," Porzingis said about facing the Celtics. "Who would have thought? But that’s professional sports. Obviously, given salary considerations, we expected some changes with the Celtics, but reaching this point still feels odd."

Kerr has made it clear that Porzingis will be a focal point on offense. The team has been practicing spacing around his low-post game over the past two days. Porzingis said he "really likes" the simplicity of this offensive system and enjoyed playing alongside Green in Wednesday’s practice. "I love Green," Porzingis said. "I can see how important he is to this team."

The Warriors currently hold a 29-26 record, ranking eighth in the Western Conference.
