Curry's latest MRI results are out again! No structural damage in the right knee, but ongoing pain and swelling mean he cannot return to play for now.

On February 20th Beijing time, according to top reporter Shams, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had another MRI scan on his problematic right knee within the last 24 hours. The results revealed no structural injury, but ongoing pain and swelling prevent him from returning to play at this time.

The team officially labeled his condition as patellofemoral pain syndrome, often referred to as "runner’s knee." Curry will miss Thursday’s game against the Boston Celtics, and his return date remains uncertain.

Before the All-Star break, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had expressed optimism that the swelling and pain in Curry’s right knee would lessen, potentially allowing him to play on Thursday. However, after returning to the training facility Wednesday night, Curry informed the coaching staff that his knee was still not ready for game action, as discomfort flared up even after individual workouts.

“He’s not yet at the level required for recovery,” Kerr said. “It’s unfortunate.”

Curry had already missed five consecutive games before the All-Star break due to persistent pain and swelling, which forced the team to rest him. The issue initially arose during a personal workout in Minneapolis on January 25th. Although he tried to play through it for a few games, he ultimately chose to sit out and recover.

“We have to be absolutely certain,” Kerr said. “He also needs to be sure… It’s definitely a tricky situation, but injuries like this tend to be that way.”

In an ESPN interview on February 6th, Curry mentioned that his right knee was “showing signs of improvement,” but he planned to remain cautious before returning.

“We have to completely eliminate all inflammation and pain first,” Curry said. “We still need to closely monitor and manage the injury. Returning too soon could cause the condition to worsen again.”
