Insider Shams:The NBA will hold a board meeting on March 24-25 to vote on adding two new teams in Las Vegas and Seattle.

According to statistics, the estimated bidding price for each new team is projected to be between $70 billion and $100 billion.

If things proceed quickly, by the 28-29 season we could see the NBA having 32 teams.

After the new teams in Seattle and Las Vegas join the NBA, they will both belong to the Western Conference. Then, either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Memphis Grizzlies would be moved to the Eastern Conference to ensure each conference has 16 teams.

The Timberwolves have fallen in the Western Conference Finals for two consecutive years. If they move to the less competitive Eastern Conference, they might genuinely have a chance to reach the Finals and even win the championship.

So far this season, the Timberwolves have achieved 41 wins and 27 losses, ranking sixth in the West. Edwards has played in 58 games, averaging 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while hitting 3.4 three-pointers per game at a 40.2% shooting rate.

It's worth noting that Seattle previously had an NBA team called the SuperSonics, which relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 and became the current Thunder.

Currently wearing Rockets uniforms, Durant and Jeff Green are the only two active NBA players who were formerly Seattle SuperSonics, both having spent their rookie seasons (07-08) with that team.

Durant himself has repeatedly publicly advocated for Seattle to regain an NBA team, even expressing willingness to return in any capacity.

As mentioned above, Seattle could return to the NBA map by the 28-29 season. Durant's current contract expires in the summer of 2028, when he will be 39 years old and enter free agency. He could potentially play for Seattle again as a player and achieve a homecoming. This season with the Rockets, he averages 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 51.5% and 40.6%.
