On March 20 Beijing time, Lakers star Luka Doncic filed a temporary restraining order seeking visitation rights for his two young daughters. Previously, his ex-fiancee Anamaria Goltes moved back to Europe with the children. Additional reports indicate Goltes is currently staying in a mansion in Slovenia, with rumors suggesting she is developing a new relationship with an A-list celebrity.

Doncic publicly confirmed their separation last week, and the trigger for the breakup was Goltes filing a court application requesting Doncic to pay child support and legal fees.
Goltes is a model and fitness blogger. Last May, she returned to Slovenia with their eldest daughter Gabriela, while pregnant with their second daughter Olivia, and has remained there since. Doncic flew back to Slovenia specifically in December to welcome Olivia's birth, then returned to Los Angeles to complete his first season after joining the Lakers.
Reports indicate that during his stay in Slovenia, Doncic asked Goltes to allow Gabriela to return with him to California. According to Daily Mail sources, their conversation escalated, and on December 6 (two days after Olivia's birth), police at the Kranj maternity hospital received a call. Police later stated they found no "criminal offense or violation" by Doncic and confirmed he "left calmly."
This custody dispute added further turbulence to Doncic's first year with the Lakers.

Goltes filed the child support application roughly half a year after Doncic signed a $165 million extension contract with the Lakers. When journalists attempted to contact Goltes in Slovenia, she declined to comment; Doncic's spokesperson also did not respond to interview requests. The sports world has seen numerous instances of NBA stars entangled in dramatic personal disputes, and this situation has drawn similar attention.
Doncic publicly addressed the breakup last week: "I love my daughters more than anything, and I have been doing everything possible to have them live with me in the U.S. during the season, but that didn't happen. Therefore, I recently made the difficult decision to end the engagement."
Slovenian media later revealed that since the Lakers training camp began last year, Doncic has only seen his daughters twice.
On February 26, Doncic filed a temporary restraining order requesting Goltes to allow him visitation with both children. Sources told Slovenian media the order explicitly demands immediate contact with the daughters. As this matter unfolds, headlines in sports are also occupied by news of other prominent sports figures resigning due to personal scandals.

When asked by a Slovenian journalist about his current situation, Doncic said: "Life is like this, I don't know what to say. But this is my job, so I have to stay here. The team pays me a lot to play... and when playing on the court, basketball brings me some kind of peace."
Goltes has not publicly responded to the breakup, but in January she posted an ambiguous message mentioning "ten years of painful lessons," without referencing Doncic or including his photo.
Goltes currently resides in the village of Smlednik, about 12 miles north of Slovenia's capital Ljubljana. Doncic and Goltes own a multi-million dollar property there, featuring a tennis court and basketball court within the compound.

This villa was built in 2017, purchased by Doncic's mother in 2019, and bought by the couple from his mother in 2022.
A complicating factor in this custody battle is that the eldest daughter was born in the U.S. and holds American citizenship, while the younger daughter Olivia was born in Slovenia and does not have U.S. citizenship, which could make legal proceedings particularly challenging.
