Reaves confirmed to miss Game 3! Notable reporter indicates he will return for Game 4; Durant's absence means Lakers have no need to risk it.

On April 25 Beijing time, the Los Angeles Lakers officially announced: guard Austin Reaves, due to a Grade 2 left oblique muscle strain, has been updated to definitively out and will not play in the first-round Game 3 against the Houston Rockets. Meanwhile, the Rockets also formally confirmed that Kevin Durant (left ankle sprain) continues to be sidelined, marking his second absence in this series.

Reaves was surprisingly listed as questionable for Game 3 earlier; he missed the first two games of the series. Despite having begun on-court recovery training, external expectations did not initially anticipate his return so soon.

A Grade 2 oblique muscle strain typically requires a recovery period of 4 to 6 weeks, so the Lakers' decision to let him rest fully and return only when completely healed is a prudent and reasonable one. Notable reporter Shams stated that if Reaves does not play in Game 3, he will return for Game 4.

Although the Lakers hold a 2-0 series lead even without Reaves, the return of this top scorer and offensive organizer within the team will undoubtedly help the Lakers advance further in the subsequent playoffs.

However, considering his limited on-court training volume, the team will not rush him back prematurely; especially now with the Rockets' core player Durant injured, the Lakers have even less necessity to take risks.

Additionally, Luka Doncic's recovery progress remains stalled, with no on-court training initiated yet. If the Lakers advance to the next round, he likely will not return until the second round.

There are no new injury concerns among the rest of the Lakers' players; Jack Laravia is not listed on the injury report.

Previous reports suggested he suffered an ankle injury, but head coach JJ Redick had already downplayed the severity, and his absence from the list now confirms this. In this series, Laravia is a key defensive player for the Lakers in containing the Rockets.

Regarding Durant's situation: this Rockets core player first missed Game 1 due to a right knee contusion, then sprained his left ankle during Game 2, leading to consecutive absences. Durant's absence makes the Rockets' hopes of a comeback at home increasingly slim; meanwhile, even if Reaves cannot return immediately, the Lakers firmly hold the overall advantage.
