On May 28 Beijing time, Heat reporter Winderman revealed on a radio show that if Miami fails to trade for Giannis from the Bucks, the team might shift to chase other star players.

Winderman stated that the Heat have several young players including Jovic, Larsson, and Jakucionis and are prepared for trades. "Honestly, once it's determined they can't get Giannis, they will start going after Kawhi Leonard and Ja Morant. In a competitive league, a team cannot stand still."
Reporter Shams previously reported that before the February trade deadline, the Bucks seriously considered the Heat's offer for Giannis. The offer centered around Tyler Herro and Ware, along with several role players, multiple draft picks, and pick swap rights. Shams said the Bucks management decided at the time that keeping Giannis and waiting for more lucrative offers this summer was the best move.
ESPN salary expert Marks noted that the Heat have three first-round picks available for trade: the 13th pick in 2026, and first-round picks in 2031 and 2033. The team also holds pick swap rights from 2029 to 2033. Winderman also mentioned that aside from Adebayo, every other player on the Heat can be placed on the trade block.
The trade market for Antetokounmpo is fierce, and it remains uncertain whether the Heat's assets can stand out. According to Shams, by the February trade deadline, multiple teams including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers had pursued the 31-year-old star.

If Leonard and Morant enter the trade market this summer, the Heat would have a better chance of acquiring both.
Morant played only 20 games last season due to injury, marking the second time in three years he missed most of the season, which lowered his trade value. Meanwhile, Leonard is entering a season at age 35, and with his contract expiring soon, his trade value has also been affected.
Reporter Stein said in January that the Grizzlies' asking price for Morant includes at least one first-round pick. NBA reporter Law Murray recently stated that in a Leonard trade, the Clippers would likely prioritize acquiring quality win-now players over draft picks.
After losing in the play-in tournament and missing the playoffs, Heat president Riley stated bluntly that the club will go all out and be aggressive this summer. If the Bucks continue to reject the Heat's offers for Giannis, Miami will likely pivot to trade for other stars.
