On May 30 Beijing time, per a combined report from Fischer and Stein, the Cavaliers are unable to determine if the Greek Freak would commit to an extension upon arriving in Cleveland, which probably takes them out of contention for the Bucks superstar in trade talks.

Earlier speculation indicated the Cavaliers might consider sending Mobley to land Antetokounmpo, pairing him with Mitchell and Harden to form a trio aiming for the title. However, citing sources, the two reporters said the Cavs will essentially not participate in the Giannis trade pursuit.
The report noted that Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman reinforced this stance during his season-ending press conference. He explicitly stated that Mobley is "part of the team's future." When directly asked about Antetokounmpo, Altman sidestepped: "We won't speculate on trade rumors involving players not on our roster."
This report from Fischer and Stein also aligns with information released by Cavaliers beat writer Chris Fedor over the weekend—the Cavs never indicated a willingness to trade Mobley for Giannis.

Antetokounmpo's salary for next season is $58.5 million, and he holds a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-2028 season. He can opt out next summer and become an unrestricted free agent, giving him leverage in choosing his next destination. For this reason, all interested teams are cautious: without assurance that Giannis will stay long-term, no one is willing to part with a core asset like Mobley.
Earlier this month, Fischer reported that if the Cavaliers were to disappoint again in the postseason, Cleveland could become a suitable landing spot for Antetokounmpo. The Cavs made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this season but were swept by the New York Knicks in four games, offering no real resistance throughout the series.

Fischer and Stein added that the Cavaliers are reluctant to part with Mobley because the 24-year-old is a key bridge to maintaining competitiveness in the post-Mitchell era. The front office also remembers how difficult the team's rebuild was after LeBron James left in both 2010 and 2018. Therefore, unless it's a sure-win trade, they will not easily give up Mobley.
