On June 5th Beijing time, the NBA officially released the last-two-minute report for Game 1 of the Finals. The report indicated only one missed call in the final two minutes, which was a shooting foul by Vassell on Brunson, where the referee should have awarded a three-point play. Nevertheless, the Knicks still defeated the Spurs 105-95 to claim the Finals opener.

This sole missed call in the final two minutes happened with 39.3 seconds left on the clock. At that moment, Brunson made a difficult shot under Vassell's defense. As he fell to the ground, Brunson gestured to the referee indicating a foul by Vassell, but the referee ignored it. The referee report noted that Vassell committed a foul when he rushed to contest Brunson's jump shot, which was a missed defensive shooting foul. Brunson made the basket and should have been awarded a three-point play.

The referee report stated that apart from this call, the other 17 decisions in the final two minutes were correct. In the end, the Knicks staged a 14-point comeback and won the first game by 10 points.

In Game 1 of the Finals, Brunson scored 30 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter alone, leading the Knicks to a late comeback victory. Wembanyama recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks, but shot 6-of-21 from the field and 2-of-9 from three, while also committing 6 turnovers. Game 2 of the Finals will take place on June 6th Beijing time.
